My new mandala is called ‘Light Awakening’. The intention for this mandala was the feeling of inner gifts bursting forth. New talents and awareness becoming consciously used in the world. So that was the feeling I started with. And with no image in my mind, I drew a simple circle on the black paper.
My hand went to the light blue colored pencil first and I used it to draw blue lines. Swirls, balls of light and patterns began to form. They almost looked like water, raindrops on a pond, or rings around distant planetary orbs.
The purple mingles with the blue. Fiery red and gold explode with light. And the white is like stardust. Little by little the art took me on a journey. And layer by layer it formed without planning.
Sometimes I asked the mandala what it wanted to be, or what it wanted to show in a certain area. I listened to the mandala speak, and drew the details that wanted to be drawn.
The mandalas I’ve been creating feel like a code being delivered from the soul. On some level they give me the same feeling like I get with crop circles. Like it’s a message of some kind. A symbol of something. I feel that our bodies, souls, the universe, and the earth are all connected, all one. What happens on the earth also happens to us on some level. So within my mandala series you can see references to the soul and simultaneous references to the planet. It’s all connected. 🙂
Close up detail
This is a detail showing the depth of layers. All the colors dancing together. Within this mandala there are three shades of blue and turquoise, red, orange, pink, purple, lavender, gold, white. The colors work in certain harmonies. I like to create a feeling of movement to capture how light and energy flow. It’s like capturing magic.
To the right is a different view of the same mandala. I rotated the image so the gold is towards the top. By rotating the image, the feeling changes.
