FAQ

Thanks for your interest and your questions!

Q: How long have you been creating art ?

A: I’ve been making art and crafts since I was a young child, maybe three years old or so. My dad painted and mom did crafts and sewing. So I was always around creativity. I remember coloring with crayons and drawing a lot. I was very inspired by art and spent hours in that zone of lost time and creative daydreams. Over the years I have practiced and studied art so that my skills were strong enough to express my visions.

Q: Did you go to art school?

A: Yes I took art classes up through high school. Then went to college and studied Commercial Art and Advertising. And also graduated from Memphis College of Art with a degree in Graphic Design and Illustration. Through it all I had many drawing, painting, computer and design classes. School taught me a lot about technique. But I must say that I learned so much about expressing from the soul and creating spiritual visionary art through my own personal explorations. I had to learn how to express light, how to draw with energy and loads of other things for myself.

Q: Are you working or are you a full-time artist? (Toniko from Japan)

A: I used to work full-time as a Graphic Designer for the Dallas Zoo. Then I became self-employed as an artist, and I became a mom! So now I am a full-time mother and artist working for the universe.

Q: What is your heritage, you are a very striking woman? (Gen from Australia)

A: Well thank you! ūüôā (Uh, you meant striking in a good way right? ha ha)¬†I am African American born in the United States. Within my family lineage there is a blend of diversity including African, Caucasian, Native American, Portuguese…

Q: Your art seems religious. What religion do you practice? (Motojima from Japan)

A: I consider my art to be more of a celebration of spirituality than aligned with a specific religious philosophy. I don’t really think of my art as being religious. There are elements of Angels, God, Deities, and Mother Mary in my art. They mean something deep to me and allow me to capture a certain truth such as, compassion, love, purity. My childhood upbringing was based in Christianity. And as an adult, I have come to find wisdom in many spiritual practices of the world, including buddhism, hinduism… I believe enlightenment and self growth are essentially an individual search for truth and higher wisdom. A personal relationship with the Divine.

Q: Can I use your art on my project?

A: I’m honored that you love my art and want to share it. But please respect the artist copyright. If you would like to share my art on your personal blog or website include a link to my website, and name:¬†Nicole Mizoguchi¬†¬†www.nicolemiz.com. That would be great! My art can not be used for profit to make money on your project unless you contact me and it is approved first. If in doubt¬†contact me. Thanks.

Q: Why do you draw a lot of faces in your art?

A: I love people! Faces and especially eyes are special to me. I draw faces as a way to help us see into our souls. The images in my art are like mirrors reflecting different aspects of utopian humanity. So we can see ourselves in the best light and be inspired to live that brightness. Some of my art especially the mandalas are not figurative at all, and are a different perspective on light and the soul.

Q: Do you still offer art workshops? (Janine from USA)

A: Yes, I enjoy teaching people how to play and create art from the soul. I love to see what my students create! Currently I am in Japan and offer a few classes here in English. But I have requests for teaching in the U.S. and Australia as well. I’m planning art instruction videos and books that will be helpful to people who live in other areas. If you’d like me to come to your area or organization to teach send in a proposal. Thanks! contact me
